The term "patent" covers utility models and Supplementary Protection Cer= tificates (SPCs). Offices which issue design patents should report their de= sign patent information activities in their Annual Technical Reports on Ind= ustrial Design Information Activities.
According to statistical data this Office in 2005 received 436 patent ap=
plications, or 53 domestic and 383 foreign..
The structure of the filed applications according to the International Pat=
ent Classification shows that section A (consumables) has the biggest share=
or 49.8% followed by section C(chemistry, metallurgy) 40.9%, which present=
ed the structure of the production capacities in Macedonia.
In 2005, the State Office for Industrial Property has granted 373 patents.=
The State Office of Industrial Property of The Republic of Macedonia iss=
ues official gazette =E2=80=9CGlasnik=E2=80=9D. The Gazette is issued four =
times a year, every three months.
This official gazette contains publishing of recognized patents their abst=
racts and drawings if any. Regarding the regional European patents seeking =
protection for Republic of Macedonia in accordance with the Agreement on co=
-operation in the field of patents with the European Patent Office, the bib=
liographic data, patent claims and drawings are published, respectively. In=
addition it contains data concerning changes in respect of granted patents=
recorded by this Office
There are very often commentaries of actual activities in protection of th=
e industrial property rights. The Office issues Annual Report for its activ=
ities in the former year. In this Report there is basic statistic data for =
patent applications and patents.
All patent documentation is classified according to the IPC classificati= on, the seventh edition. All bibliographic data are published in accordance= with the suggested INID codes by WIPO standards.
The patent documentation is of paper kind and is based in the Office lib= rary. The documentation is updated continuously.
This was the second consecutive year since the implementation of the IPA= S software in the Office and it was marked by a significant increase in pro= ductivity resulting in an equivalent decrease in the backlog of both Tradem= arks and Patents.

Information concerning patents is available in electronic format. Addition=
al information (as application procedures and such) is available at the Off=
ice Web-site http://www.ippo.gov.mk.
The Office's databases are provided by mutual exchange of patent documen=
tation with other Offices. There is CD-ROM collection of: European Patent A=
pplications, PCT international Application (WORLD), JOPAL, ACCESS, LEGAL an=
d the Bulletin all from the ESPACE production, and than Patent Abstracts Of=
Japan (PAJ CD-ROM), USAPAT, Collection of Republic of Moldova, PRECES, HUN=
PAT=C3=89KA and Slovenian Patent Documents on CD ROM. The Office has been r=
eceiving the said patent documentation, continuously.
The official gazette =E2=80=9CGlasnik=E2=80=9D issued by The Office as wel=
l as The Annual Rapport are delivered to the following countries: YU, HR, S=
I, BG, CZ, PL, SE, TR, AT, AL, BY, BE, KR, FR, HU, CH, UA, ER, GB, US, JP, =
PT, KP, RU, SK, ES, MD and FI. The Office receives gazettes and annual rapp=
ort from the next countries: AT, BG, ER, BY, MD, PL, HU, UA, FI, CZ, RU, SK=
, JP, YU, HR and SI. These documents are on the paper, mostly.
State Office of industrial property of the Republic of Macedonia organiz=
es seminars in purpose of nourishing a process of continuous innovation of =
knowledge of the employees and other subjects involved in the development o=
f this area.The World Intellectual Property day, april 26th, was used by th=
e Office as another opportunity for the affirmation of the intellectual pro=
perty rights.
In 2005 at the International Trade Fair =E2=80=9CIdeas-Inventions-New Prod=
ucts=E2=80=9D, held on November 3-6 in Nuremberg our inventors came out wit=
h awards and official confirmations showing again that they are able to fol=
low the rhythm and achievements of the developed world.The Patent of the Ye=
ar Award, held on December 05, for the twelfth time fulfill and confirm the=
goal of this ceremony envisioned as an act of nurturing, stimulating and p=
romoting invention and creativity.As part of the CARDS Project of IP Rights=
(Community Assistance for Reconstruction, Development and Stabilization), =
for the countries of the West Balkan, there were international seminars.
In the field of the international cooperation, and particularly Internatio=
nal Patent classification representatives from this Office have attended th=
e 35th Session of the Committee of Experts formed by the Special Union.
