The procedures of filing application, examination and registration of trademarks have not changed in 2009.
The total of the filed applications for registration on trademarks in 2009 has made 4588, that is less on 8, 8 % in comparison with last year. By national procedure were filed 2026 applications that is more on 2, 2 % than last year. Substantially the increase of applications made by national applicants, which is more on 18,8 % in 2009. The applications on national procedure from foreign applicants is less on 23,5 % than 2008. 1431 applications were filed by national applicants, that was made 70, 6 % from total number of the filled applications on national procedure. 2562 applications on international procedure were filled that is less on 16 % than 2008. 1488 trademark registered in 2009, that is less on 13,8 % compare with the last year. 56,5 % of registered trade marks made by national applicants and 43,5 % of registered trade marks made by foreign applicants.

• The official bulletin «Rasmiy Akhborotnoma» - 12 issues
• The collection of annual indexes to the official bulletin «Rasmiy Akhborotnoma» (section of the index on trademarks) on the electronic carrier.
Data on the registered trademarks are published in section "Trademarks" of the official bulletin «Rasmiy Akhborotnoma», which is published on CD-ROM from 2004. Data on trademarks includes bibliographic data and image. Data on 1790 trademarks are published in official bulletins in 2009.
The most important announcements, concerning activity of the office on trademarks are published in section "Official news" of the bulletin «Rasmiy Akhborotnoma» and also available on the website of the office (www.patent.uz).
Data on national trademarks are stored in existing bibliographic database "Trademarks" of SPO and in electronic storehouses.
During processing applications all the documents, concerning trademarks, are scanned and saved in facsimile form in format TIFF.
Collecting chapters of the official bulletin on trademarks is carried out automatically on the workplace of the employee of Publication Division. By specialized inquiry the bibliographic data from database (SUBD MS SQL Server 2000) and texts of documents (abstracts) are selected and sorted from electronic storehous. The subsequent operations (page makeup, duplicating) are made by means of programs Adobe PageMaker, Word and Adobe Acrobat.
Images of trademarks are saved in format JPG by means of program Adobe PhotoShop. Bibliographic data are saved and processed in format XML and in parallel in DB SQL Server.

Goods and services are classified according to the International classification of goods and services (Nice Classification, 9th edition). The Figurative elements of trade marks are classified according to the International Classification of the Figurative Elements of Marks (Vienna Classification).
Examiners of the SPO use the electronic version of ICGS of 9th edition for updating the classification headings specified by applicants
An applicant should put down classification indexes in application documents on trademarks according to ICGS (Nice Classification) operating edition.
Bibliographic data are saved in the form of dynamic XML-documents and in the internal database constructed on the basis of SUBD MS SQL Server 2000. Primary filling of base is made by special group of input. Bibliographic data are supported and updated during life of the application by all departments involved in process. Changes in base will be authorized. Interfaces of access to base are constructed on the basis of Intranet-technologies.
The search file on a paper and optical disks is formed on the basis of collection of the State Fund of the Patent Documentation, which includes materials on the trademarks, containing the foreign official bulletins of 24 countries, WIPO and the incorporated cumulative editions on the trademarks.
Search files on a paper and a part on CD/DVD-ROM are updated monthly, some CDs/DVD-ROM are updated annually.
Bibliographic data and files of documents in electronic storehouse on national documents can replenish and/or be corrected in process of the reference.
Conditions of storage of fund depend on mostly kinds of data carriers: patent documents on a paper are stored in wall cases, photograph collection on microfilms - in boxes, on CD-ROM and DVD-ROM - in stores in wall cases.
Bases of bibliographic, office work data and file storehouse are stored on specialized a file-server on which with a view of safety reserve copying on an additional server is carried out.
In 2009 the State Fund of the Patent Documentation has replenished with the patent-information publications containing data on trademarks of 23 countries of the world and WIPO.
We have difficulties in exploiting in house system of SPO, especially falling back of the process of documents circulation of office. That’s why, the SPO decides to create new internal information system, which will satisfy the requirement.
Examiners access through the Internet to database of WIPO international trademarks - International Trademark Information Database (ROMARIN) is provided. Search is carried out by examiners of the office through using indexes of Nice classification, and Vienna classification of graphic elements of signs. Indexes of the Vienna classification are regularly bringing in a database "Trademarks".
The SATOZ has the full-function system of administration, which provides an authorization, access to the information, safety, and management of the rights of users, groups and options of system.
The equipment: Server group, network infrastructure (cable communications, routers), workstations (from P-II, up to P-V), periphery (printers, scanners, photocopy).
Operational system: Windows 2003 (servers SQL Server 2000/2003, Exchange 2003, ISA, IIS, server of reserve copying/restoration of the information), Vista and Windows 2000/XP (workstations).
The applied software: SATOZ/Landocs, an external site www.patent.uz, bibliographic database system of patent searching, an internal site (PIPS), System of testing of knowledge, Semantic antivirus system.
Applied systems: "Norm" program system, account system“1C”, machine translation system “Promt 10”, system of dictionaries “Lingvo 10”, ORT-system Fine Reader, Photoshop CS2, office system MS Office (professional), Adobe Reader 7.0.
The State Patent Documentation Fund of SPO collects the information on trade marks. This Documentation Fund is structural division of SPO and also has practically unique full collection of the patent documentation in territory of Uzbekistan. On the basis of State Patent Documentation Fund of SPO is carried out the patent- information services for office experts and public.
The collection of Fund includes patent bulletins with data on trademarks of 25 countries and WIPO. Acquisition is carried out on the basis of international exchange, in order of a subscription and acquisition by own editions. The collection on a paper is stored on metal racks and in wall cupboard, collection on CD/DVD-ROM disks are stored in stores in wall cases.
The information services which are carried out by order of consumers, including carring out of the automated search on CD/DVD-ROM; classification on international classification of trademark; searching in the database of the office, consultation on drawing up and registration of applications for registration (including international) trademark; copying, selection and issue of documents by inquiries of users, and etc.
Issue of patent documents on traditional carriers is carried out directly in reading rooms, and also in electronic fund, which presents the patent documentation and the information on trademarks on optical disks.
The electronic filling of trademark application does not exist.

On the basis of the bilateral and international exchange, the SPO send the Official bulletin of SPO «Rasmiy Akhborotnoma» with data on the registered trademarks to 28 countries and international and regional organizations as WIPO, EPO, and EAPO.
Since 2004 the SPO has published the official bulletin on CD-ROM disks. In 2009 on the basis of bilateral exchange SPO has received official bulletins with data on trademarks from offices of 21 countries and WIPO, from its official bulletins on CD-ROM and DVD-ROM disks from.12 countries and WIPO.
Activity of SPO in the field of trademarks is the part of seminars organized by the office, in particular, the regional seminars on «Legal Protection of IP Objects and its role in development region’s economy» were organized in 2009 in the following cities of Uzbekistan: Urgench, Termez, Karshi, Samarkand, Bukhara, Navoiy, Namangan, Andijan, Fergana, Nukus, Gulistan, Jizak, Tashkent. The professors, lectures, postgraduates, masters, and also engineers from enterprises, representatives of small enterprises, scientific research organization were participants of seminars. The materials of seminar, including journals “Management IP”, booklets “SPO”, Legislation on IP in CD-disks and etc. were distributed by State Patent Office during the seminars. The total of participants of seminars was more over 1200 persons.
