Annual Technical Report 2002 on Industrial Design Information Activities submitted by Malawi (SCIT/ATR/ID/2002/MW)

Applications from Non-Residents in 2001 were 6, in 2002, were 12.

Registrations from Non-Residents in 2001 were 0, in 2002 were 9.

Publishing, including printing, copying techniques and electronic printing

Announcements of removal, renewal and registered industrial designs are done through journals and information is kept in paper form. Copies of journals are sent to ARIPO, WIPO, Japanese Patent Office and other intellectual property offices.

Main types of announcements of the Office in the field of industrial design information

We have one type of announcement which is done through journals in the field of industrial design information.

Mass storage media and microforms used

Industrial designs information is kept in paper form.

Databases and office automation

Processing of industrial designs is done manually.

III. Matters concerning classifying, reclassifying and indexing of industrial design information according to the classification systems applied

Classification and reclassification activities; Classification system used, e.g., International Classification for Industrial Designs (Locarno Classification), other classification (please indicate whether industrial designs are classified by your Office and, if so, which classification is used)

Industrial designs are classified according to the Locarno Classification Systems. No other classification systems are used.

File building

File building is done manually, i.e., in the register book.

We update our information in the register book as soon as we have received application forms.
