Annual Technical Report 2013 on Industrial Design Information Activities submitted by Armenia (CWS/ATR/ID/2013/AM)

The expression "industrial designs" covers industrial designs and models. Offices which issue design patents should report their design patent information activities in this series of Annual Technical Reports.
I. GENERAL OVERVIEW OF RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN INDUSTRIAL DESIGN INFORMATION ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT BY THE OFFICE
The average duration of the examination of applications on industrial designs from filing date to the date of taking decisions on refusal or granting of protection of the industrial designs in 2013 was 2 months (the duration of the examination of applications on trademarks in 2013 was the same as in 2012).
Compared with 2012 the total number of applications on industrial design received has decreased by national procedure (39 in 2012 and 30 applications in 2013 from national applicants and 18 in 2012 and 3 in 2013 from foreign applicants).

II. SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES RELATED TO INDUSTRIAL DESIGN INFORMATION CARRIED OUT BY THE OFFICE

International classification for Industrial Designs ICID (Locarno Agreement) under 9-th and 10-th editions is used for registration of industrial designs.
The Agency uses the subversion of “Industrial designs” databases. The subversion database designed for examination and proceedings provides:
- Accumulation of bibliographic data in three languages (Armenian, Russian, English)
- Accumulation and control of fees
- Automation of record keeping
- Outlet of statistical data
- Publication of bibliographic data
- Search of information.
III. SOURCES OF INDUSTRIAL DESIGN INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE OFFICE
In 2013 12 issues of the Official Bulletin "Industrial Property" were published in the website of the Agency. Bulletins were published in 2 languages in Armenian and in Russian, which include official information on 24 Industrial designs.
Industrial design search system is available for the public which is free of charge on the internet, contains Industrial designs information registered by the national procedure (http://www.aipa.am/en/national-procedure-reg/).
Electronic filing system of Industrial design applications is available for the public (https://my.aipa.am/)
IV. ICT SUPPORT TO SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES RELATED TO INDUSTRIAL DESIGN INFORMATION CARRIED OUT BY THE OFFICE
Specific software tools supporting business procedures within the Office: general description, characteristics, advantages, possible improvements
The Agency uses electronic database on inventions and utility models, which contains bibliographic data, abstracts and sketches with reporting opportunity in three languages: Armenian, Russian, English, as well as with transmission opportunity of bibliographic data for publishing in Official Bulletins, issued by the Agency.
New Web based software application system is in the development process.
