In calendar year 2012, Institute for intellectual property of Bosnia and Herzegovina received 759 national application. Compared to 2011 (769), national application fillings increased 4.3 percent. 1381 national application were registred, 19 more than in 2011.
And the same time the number od trademark applications filed under the Madrid Agreement and Madrid Protocol is decreased for 916 (4.3 %) applications. We had 3904 applications in 2011 and in 2012 total number are 2988 trademark applications.

II. Matters concerning the generation, reproduction, and distribution of secondary sources of trademark information, i.e., trademark gazettes

Publishing, printing, copying techniques

The Institute for intellectual property of Bosnia and Herzegovina (hencefoward ‘’Institute), on the basis of Trademark Law, publishes its official gazette: Intellectual property Gazette. The Gazette is published every three months, four times a year. The Gazette, in the part referring to trademark, is prepared by means of computer, using an own (insitute) computer system and aplications. The following informations and bibliographical data concering registred domestic and international trademarks are published in the gazette: Registration number,expected expiration date of registration, application number, date of filling of the application, registration date, data relating to priority, date cocncering exhibition, name and address of the holder of the registration, name of the representative, collective mark, informations concerning the colors claimed, three-dimensional trademark, description of the mark, look of the mark, International Classification of the Figurative Elements of Marks (Vienna Classification - 7th edition), list of goods and services according the Nice Classification of Goods and sevice

Main types of announcements of the Office in the field of trademark information

Office notices on trademarks are published in the official gazette of the institute, as well as on the institute web site within the pdf document on published application and registration.

Mass storage media and microforms used

The bibliographic ata are stored in SQL 2008 databese and trademark images sre stored in Windows server 2003.
The Institute maintains a complete history of its trademrak files in paper form and all informations for trademarks applied from 1992 to date in electronic form.

Word processing and office automation

All staff uses MS -ACCESS and MS-Word 2010 for word-processing that is operating in Windows XP Profesional and Windows 7 Enterprise environment.
Outgoing letters and Institute Gazette are fully automated and generated in MS Word.

Techniques used for the generation of trademark information (printing, recording, photocomposing, etc.)

The bibliographic data are stored in the Institute owner databes via the aplication ''Trademark's'' (which developed in SQl and MS ACCESS application.) Trademark images in stored on Windows server.
Output documents and Institute gazette are produced from automated MS Word templates. A trademarks image is imported from network disc.

Classification and reclassification activities; Classification systems used, e.g., International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks (Nice Classification), International Classification of the Figurative Elements of Marks (Vienna Classification), other classification (please indicate whether goods and services for the registration of marks and whether the figurative elements of marks are classified by your Office and, if so, which classification(s) is (are) used)

The Nice Classification System of Goods and Services, 10th edition, is used for the registration of marks.
Vienna Classification , 7th edition, is used for figurative marks.

Use of electronic classification systems to check the classification symbols furnished by an applicant and which are contained in the lists of goods and/or services

We dont have a electronic classification system to chek the classification symbols. Classifacitaion is cheked manually by the Institute specialists.

Obligation for applicants to use pre-defined terms of the classification applied

The applicant are not obliged to use pre-defined terms of the calssification system.

Bibliographic data and processing

Bibliographic data elements and calssification are searchable, and the images are displayed together whit these data elements. The search is available in Institue.

IV. Trademark manual search file establishment and upkeep

File Building

A paper file is kept for each trademark application. Information is stored on our internal databases and within the file.

Updating

The search files contain BA domestic marks; designated to the BA under the Madrid sysrem are updated monthly.

V. Activities in the field of computerized trademark search systems

In-house systems (online/offline)

Tredamark search is executed by computer. The database of the search system includes national and international trademarks in Bosnia and Hezegovina.

External databases

The Office's website is linked to World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) - Romarin (Madrid Express), Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) - OHIM Online, and Hague Express(WIPO).

Administrative management systems (e.g., register, legal status, statistics and administrative support)

All application is developed in MS ACCESS and Microsoft Visual Studio C#, uses in mySQL and Access database. An application "Trademark" is used for filling all bibliographic data, and all trademark changes are recorder in that application and database. MS Word is used for automatic generation of output documents.

-Servers: HP DL 180 G6, IBM x236 series, HP ML 350 series/ OS – Win SERVER 2003 R2 and Win SERVER 2008 R2 Enterprise
-Workstations: Desktop - PC Pentium Dual Core with Windows XP Professional and Windows7 Enterprise; Notebooks – OS MS WIN7 Enterprise. Chechpoint utm1 270 firewall.
- SQL 2008 R2 Express and SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise databases: Daily backup is stored at NAS(Network Attached Storage).
-Backup software is Symantec BACKUP EXEC 2010 server

Planning, administration, automation, security

Applications for trademarks registration can be made , by post, by fax or in person at the Office's premises.
Both paper and electronic collections are located in our main building and are therefore secure

Collection management, preservation

Collections are regularly stored in paper and electronic form, in accordance with that they are safe. A structured regime is in the place to ensure preservation of the information.
