Annual Technical Report 2002 on Industrial Design Information Activities submitted by Slovenia (SCIT/ATR/ID/2002/SI)

The expression "industrial designs" covers industrial designs and models. Offices which issue design patents should report their design patent information activities in this series of Annual Technical Reports.

 

I. Evolution of registration activities

In 2002, SIPO received 138 national applications, a 43.7 % increase from the previous year.

Compared to the previous year, the number of registered national designs increased by 51 %.

At the end of 2002, there were 4896 industrial designs in force, out of which 744 were filed through national route and 4152 under the Hague Agreement.

II. Matters concerning the generation, reproduction, and distribution of industrial design documents and of secondary sources of industrial design information, i.e., official gazettes

Information on industrial designs are published bimonthly in the Bulletin of Industrial Property and are also available on SIPO Website (www.uil-sipo.si). The Bulletin as well as other documents are prepared with the Ventura Publisher software.

III. Matters concerning classifying, reclassifying and indexing of industrial design information according to the classification systems applied

Industrial designs are classified according to the last edition of the Locarno Classification.

IV. Search file establishment and upkeep

SIPO does not perform manual searches anymore.

V. Activities in the field of computerized search systems for industrial designs

SIPO has computer aided possibilities for searching industrial design information. There are also Internet external databases available.

VI. Administration of industrial design services available to the public (relating to facilities, e.g., for lodging applications, registering designs, assisting clients with search procedures, obtaining official publications and registry extracts

On-line information service including bibliographic data on published and registered designs as well as searchable database on designs on SIPO website are available to the public. SIPO Webite also enables public to get general information on industrial design protection in Slovenia.

VII. Matters concerning mutual exchange of industrial design documentation and information

SIPO sends the Bulletin of Industrial Property to 16 countries.

VIII. Matters concerning education and training including technical assistance to developing countries

In 2002, SIPO organized several seminars on industrial property protection for the public, and participated in three fairs.

SIPO offered assistance (workshop) to the examiners of Industrial Property Protection Office of the Republic of Macedonia.
