Can the filename for my generated sequence listing include non Latin characters?

In order to ensure that the sequence listing generated by WIPO Sequence is compliant with WIPO ST.26, the filename should be provided using Latin characters only. There are only four elements within an ST.26-compliant sequence listing which allow non-Latin characters (see paragraph 40(a)):

  •  Applicant name (Latin equivalent must be provided)
  •  Inventor name (Latin equivalent must be provided)
  •  Invention title
  • Non English qualifier values

If your project name is provided using non Latin characters, please provide a filename using Latin characters. If you do not and the sequence listing is then validated, the following error will be returned:

"The element includes non-permitted characters: <filename>. Only printable characters (including the space character) from the Unicode Basic Latin code table (except the reserved characters) are permitted."

  • No labels
