I. GENERAL OVERVIEW OF RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN PATENT INFORMATION ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT BY THE OFFICE

Information on the following topics is desired:

  1. Outline of main policies and plans aimed at development of patent information activities and expected time frames for their realization
  2. New projects launched or resumed this year in the context of the policies and plans mentioned above, short description: aims, partners, tasks
  3. Main areas of patent information activities and related information and communication technology (ICT) practices which were in the focus of attention last year

In 2022, 71 applications were filed for invention patents. Quantitative data are given in Table 1.1. on the dynamic of receipts comparing indicators for five years.

The number of applications received in 2022 decreased by 18.4% comparing to the number of received applications in 2021. Only 3 applications came from a foreign applicant.

In accordance with the Eurasian Patent Convention (EAPC), Kyrgyzpatent received 6 Eurasian applications. A formal examination was carried out on them, and the applications were sent for further examination to the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO). It should be emphasized that applications are sent through the EAPO-Online system.

During the reporting period, 7 applications were received for the issuance of patents for utility models. Data on the dynamics of receipt of applications for the last five years are shown in Table 2.1.

The table shows that the number of applications received for 2022 decreased by 58.8% compared to the number of applications received for 2021. During the reporting period, no applications were received from foreign applicants.


In 2022, 9 applications were received for obtaining a patent for an industrial design. Of these, 7 applications were received from national applicants and 2 from a foreign applicants, 3 applications from individuals and 6 applications from legal entities.

Data on the dynamics of receipt of applications for the last five years are shown in Table 3.1

In 2022, in accordance with the international procedure for registration of industrial designs under the Hague system, 96 applications were received indicating the Kyrgyz Republic as the country of patenting, published in 40 issues of the Bulletin of International Industrial Designs.

The receipt of applications by ballots is shown in Table 3.4.

The total number of industrial designs contained in 96 applications is 229.

As of December 31, 2022, the number of international industrial designs under the Hague system protected on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic is 1826 .

For the corresponding period of 2021, the total number of received applications is 106. The number of applications received in 2022 decreased by 9.4 % compared to the number of received applications last year .

1.Classification is allotting one or more classification symbols (e.g., IPC symbols) to a patent application, either before or during search and examination, which symbols are then published with the patent application.

2. Preclassification is allotting an initial broad classification symbol (e.g., IPC class or subclass, or administrative unit) to a patent application, using human or automated means for internal administrative purposes (e.g., routing an application to the appropriate examiner).  Usually preclassification is applied by the administration of an office.

3. Reclassification is the reconsideration and usually the replacement of one or more previously allotted classification symbols to a patent document, following a revision and the entry into force of a new version of the Classification system (e.g., the IPC).  The new symbols are available on patent databases.
