I. GENERAL OVERVIEW OF RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN TRADEMARK INFORMATION ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT BY THE OFFICE
Outline of main policies and plans aimed at development of trademark information activities and expected time frames for their realization
The legal protection of trademarks is carried out according to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan «About trademarks, service marks and appellation of origin» (new edition) of August 30, 2001 № 267-II with changes and additions of August 30, 2002 №405-II, September 19, 2007 №LRU-111, December 26, 2011 №LRU-312 and December 29, 2012 №LRU-345. In 2015 procedures of filing of applications, carrying out examination and issue of trademarks certificates remained invariable.

Main areas of trademark information activities and related information and communication technology (ICT) practices which were in the focus of attention last year
Сomplex of information systems (CIS) «The Innovation» is developed and introduced. Development of an internal information portal of Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Uzbekistan (IIP) is begun. The internal information portal has to provide information service of internal users –Agency stuff and administration for the purpose of increase of level of management and decision-making support at the expense of the organization of collecting, consolidation and the analyzing of information on types of intellectual property objects.
Statistics: changes in terms of application filings and registrations with respect to previous year; trends or areas experiencing rapid changes
In 2015, the Agency filed 5615 applications for the registration of trademarks, which is 8.6% more than last year. According to the national procedure of applications received in 2900 (by 17.2% more than last year). Most of the increase was due to increased activity of national applicants who have filed 2260 applications in 2015 - almost 20% more. The share of foreign applicants who applied under the national procedure, accounted 22.18% (640 applications). According to the international procedure of applications received in 2325, which is higher than in 2014 by 0.8%. The total number of registered trademarks in 2015 under the national procedure was in 1762, almost 4% more than in the previous year. Of the total number of registered trademarks, 68.7% were registering to national applicants, we have 31.3% of the share of foreign applicants. Provided the legal protection of trademarks on the 2850 Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement.

II. SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES RELATED TO TRADEMARK INFORMATION CARRIED OUT BY THE OFFICE
Information and support provided by the Office to applicants regarding filing on paper and/or e-filing (instructions, seminars, etc.) - URLs
Expert staff of the Agency are carried out free advice and expert meetings, talks in terms of providing methodological assistance in filing, the applicant and the general public. Questions registration application materials for registration of trade marks are part of the Agency carried out various activities aimed at improving the legal culture and knowledge in the field of intellectual property.
Besides, at Agency the State Unitary Enterprise “INTELLEKT EKSPERT” renders services on registration of applications for reception of protection documents for trademarks, support of examination and consultations concerning registration of the rights to trademarks.
Availability of the application dossier in electronic form
Agency has a full collection of application documents on trademarks (originals) on a paper. Besides, these documents are stored in bibliographic databases and in electronic storehouses in internal database. The bibliographic data and files of national documents in electronic storehouse can replenish and-or be corrected in process of the reference.
Matters concerning classifying
(i) Classification and reclassification activities; classification systems used, e.g., International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks (Nice Classification), International Classification of the Figurative Elements of Marks (Vienna Classification), other classification
(ii) Use of electronic classification systems and pre-defined terms of the classification applied
Goods and services are classified according to the International classification of goods and services (Nice Classification, 10th edition). The Figurative elements of trademarks are classified according to the International Classification of the Figurative Elements of Marks (Vienna Classification).
Examiners of the Agency use the electronic version of ICGS of 10th edition for updating the classification headings specified by applicants
Matters concerning processing of different types of non-traditional marks (e.g., three-dimensional, motion, hologram, color mark, etc.)
Agency carries out registration of non-conventional kinds of trademarks, including in color execution, volume, sound, light, etc. In case of filing of such trademarks applicants are obliged to observe the applications made to their stated in Rules of drawing up, filing and consideration of the application for trademark and service mark registration. For example, if on registration as a trademark the volume (three-dimensional) designation in the column «Image of declared designation» the image of general view of this designation is located is declared and images of all necessary projections of the declared designation giving about it exhaustive representation are in addition represented.

III. SOURCES OF TRADEMARK INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE OFFICE
Main types of publications in the field of trademark information, outline of the content and medium (on paper, on CDs, online - URLs)
Data on trademarks are published in the official bulletin as it is described in following section.
Official Gazettes: main types of announcements, frequency of publication, medium (on paper, on CDs, online, URL), etc.
Data on the registered trademarks are published in the official bulletin «Rasmiy Ahborotnoma» in section "Trademarks" the Official bulletin of Agency is published on CD-ROM disks monthly; in 2015 year 12 numbers are issued, besides the official bulletin published on the Agency’s web site. Data on trademarks include the bibliographic data and the image. In 2015 in official bulletins data about 1776 registered trademarks are published.
Information products (coverage, medium, etc.) available to examiners, including external documentation and databases
Examiners access through the Internet to database of WIPO international trademarks - International Trademark Information Database (ROMARIN) is provided. Search is carried out by examiners of the office through using indexes of Nice classification, and Vienna classification of graphic elements of signs. Indexes of the Vienna classification are regularly bringing in a database "Trademarks".
Information products (coverage, medium, etc.) and services available to external users; conditions of access (e.g., free of charge, subscription, etc.)
The collection of annual indexes to the official bulletin «Rasmiy Ahborotnoma» for 2015 (section of the index on trademarks) published on the electronic carrier.
The Annual Report of Agency for 2014 on the electronic carrier and on a paper is published; the electronic version of the Annual Report is placed on the Agency site on the Internet.

IV. ICT SUPPORT TO SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES RELATED TO TRADEMARK INFORMATION CARRIED OUT BY THE OFFICE

Internal databases: coverage, updates, interlinks with external sources
With a view of increase of efficiency of search and processing of patents in Agency the subsystem of automation of patent search and preparation for the publication of patent documents (PIPS) functions.
PIPS - patent-search information system (conducting bibliographic bases, patent search, reports: registers, statistics, decisions of examinations).
The system of automation of search and preparation of documents of Agency has been designed on the basis of technologies Intranet with wide use of language means of the objective structured data presentation - universal language of the description of data XML/XSL and control system of databases of corporate level MS SQL Server.
Establishment and maintenance of electronic search file: file building, updating, storage, documents from other offices included in the search file
Administrative management electronic systems (register, legal status, statistics, and administrative support)
Administration of information systems is carrying out with ActiveDirectory and systems administration tools.
Other matters
In 2016 it is planned to develop the Concept and the Specification for the creation of "Intellectual property" integrated information system, which should provide information services to external users - clients and applicants Agency providing them with on-line services and services for access to information on the objects of intellectual property IPO.

V. PROMOTION ACTIVITIES AIMED TO SUPPORT USERS IN ACCESS AND EFFICIENT USE OF TRADEMARK INFORMATION
Office's library (if deals with trademark information): equipment, collection management, network of libraries in the country, cooperation with foreign libraries
The State Patent Documentation Fund of Agency collects the information on trade marks. This Documentation Fund is structural division of Agency and also has practically unique full collection of the patent documentation in territory of Uzbekistan. On the basis of State Patent Documentation Fund of Agency is carried out the patent- information services for office experts and public.
The collection of Fund includes patent bulletins with data on trademarks of 27 countries (on 20 countries and WIPO - the retrospective information whereas since the certain moment official bulletins of these countries are exposed on sites of patent offices); collection is placed on the countries and years.
Publications related to different business procedures and trademark information sources available to users, for example, books, brochures, Internet publications, etc.
For increase of legal knowledge in the field of protection of objects of intellectual property by Agency published brochure «Obtaining legal protection of a trademark abroad under the international procedure».
Cooperation with universities, technology and innovation support centers, etc.
A 16 traveling seminars on the theme "Legal protection of intellectual property" in different cities of the country. As part of these workshops was attended by professors, doctoral students, graduate students of some high schools of the republic, representatives of private business and entrepreneurship. The seminars covered issues of the legislative framework of legal protection for intellectual property in Uzbekistan, including and trademark.
Education and training: training courses, e-learning modules (URLs), seminars, exhibitions, etc.
At Agency the State Unitary Enterprise «Center on retraining and advanced training in sphere of intellectual property» («IP-Center») functions.
In 2015 IP-Center organised and spent courses of improvement of qualification of shots under the program of "Intellectual Property Basis». Questions on a legal protection of trademarks are included in Centre curriculum.
Besides, these questions are a component of lectures, seminars, exhibitions, which organized by Agency.

VI. INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION ACTIVITIES IN THE FIELD OF TRADEMARK INFORMATION
International exchange of trademark information in machine-readable form (e.g., Official Gazettes)
On the basis of the bilateral and international exchange, the Agency send the Official bulletin «Rasmiy Aхborotnoma» with data on the registered trademarks to 27 countries and international and regional organizations as WIPO, EPO, and EAPO.
Agency has published the official bulletin on CD-ROM disks. In 2015 on the basis of bilateral exchange AGENCY has received official bulletins with data on trademarks from offices of 7 countries, on CD-ROM and DVD-ROM disks.
Participation in international or regional activities and projects related to trademark information
May 12-13, 2015 an international seminar "Issues of legal protection of trademarks and the Madrid System for the International Registration of Marks", organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Agency for Intellectual Property of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The seminar was attended by representatives of WIPO patent offices of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Kazakhstan, by national participants - representatives of the State Customs Committee, State Committee of the Republic on privatization in Uzbekistan, de-monopolization and Competition Development, the Economic Court, the Chamber of Commerce, the Judicial Training Center at Ministry of Justice, patent attorneys of the Republic of Uzbekistan, The representatives of business organizations in the field of intellectual property specialists.
