The Memorandum seeks to support collaboration between CIPO and WIPO, particularly related to WIPO GREEN. WIPO GREEN connects green tech seekers and providers through its online database and matchmaking initiatives – all part of its mission to catalyze green tech innovation and accelerate green tech transfer and diffusion. Given Canada’s commitment to climate change action and the complementarity of its activities with WIPO GREEN, the MoU will be instrumental in helping WIPO and CIPO use their collective strengths to achieve common objectives.

Key areas of cooperation

The MoU makes reference to technology transfer, intellectual property and financing as key areas of convergence that can be leveraged to complement efforts and create synergies. In doing so, it provides a supportive framework, promoting cooperation in the development of activities, and supports the transfer of green technologies.

Through the signing of the MoU, CIPO also endorses the WIPO GREEN Charter and becomes a WIPO GREEN Partner, bringing the total to 82 Partners.
