For decades, WIPO and INTA have been working together on improving the legal framework and respect for trademarks and related rights. The focus of this Memorandum is to establish a tighter collaboration between INTA and WIPO related particularly to WIPO GREEN.

The parties agree on mutual support in raising awareness and promotion, organization of joint workshops and events, invitations to programs and meetings, and development of training programs.

The main vehicle for collaboration will be INTA’s new Brands for a Better Society Committee, which aims to showcase how brands can benefit society at large. Its mandate includes corporate social responsibility, diversity and inclusion, and pro bono initiatives. In the course of the newly established collaboration, the parties will work on providing the opportunity for INTA members to introduce environmental practices into their business activities, in line with WIPO GREEN’s strategic objective to engage the private sector and particularly MNEs.

The Memorandum was signed by David Lossignol, the 2019 INTA president and head of trademarks, domain names and copyrights at Novartis Pharma in Basel, Switzerland, on one side, and by Minelik Alemu Getahun, WIPO Assistant Director General, on the other side.
