WIPO GREEN Partners with IDH to Connect Practitioners with Climate-Smart Technologies

October 14, 2025

WIPO GREEN has joined forces with the IDH on its newly launched Innovation Library to help agribusinesses and smallholder farmers discover and adopt proven climate-smart technologies on the field.

Across the globe, smallholder farmers are watching their crops struggle against increasingly unpredictable weather patterns. Extended droughts followed by sudden floods, shifting growing seasons, and depleted soils have become the new normal. While these farmers know they need climate-smart solutions to survive, finding the right technology for their specific conditions and budgets remains challenging.

A new partnership aims to change that reality.

WIPO GREEN has joined forces with the IDH’s Innovation Library to provide a "one-stop shop" for practitioners – including agri-SMEs, multinational corporations and other organizations engaging with smallholders – seeking proven environmental technologies tailored to their unique challenges. The collaboration promises to bridge the gap between agricultural green innovations and farmers around the world who need to increase their resilience to climate change.

This collaboration with the IDH’s Innovation Library will help further promote the deployment of green technologies and accelerate the transition towards climate-resilient agri-food systems.

Peter Oksen, Green Technology & Research Manager, WIPO

The partnership combines WIPO GREEN's database of environmentally friendly technologies with IDH's field-tested Innovation Library. Unlike theoretical solutions, every innovation featured in the IDH’s Innovation Library has been backed by real-world evidence and is fit-for-purpose, complete with curated insights and manageable business pathways.

For farmers, cooperatives, and investors, this means accessing advanced irrigation systems or renewable energy solutions is no longer about guesswork, it's about finding what can work according to their specific needs.

The IDH Innovation Library serves as an open, online platform specifically designed to make global supply chains more sustainable, while WIPO GREEN's database connects technology providers with seekers of climate-smart solutions at no cost.

Through this collaboration we see an opportunity to connect our evidence-based recommendations with existing technologies that our partners can readily adopt.

Kafui Adjogatse, Senior Innovation Manager, IDH

This collaboration reinforces WIPO GREEN's mission to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future through strategic partnerships and knowledge sharing, ensuring innovations reach those who need them most.
