How can countries turn climate commitments into green technologies that deliver tangible benefits for communities?
On September 21, 2026, WIPO will convene an event during New York Climate Week and the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week to explore how international cooperation can accelerate the deployment of practical, high-impact climate solutions.
A persistent gap remains between the development of climate technologies and their deployment at scale, particularly in emerging and climate-vulnerable markets. Bridging this gap requires enabling policy environments, access to finance and technology and stronger collaboration among governments, international organizations and the private sector.
The 90-minute interactive event will connect climate policymaking with practical technology deployment. It will bring together government representatives, innovators, international organizations, investors and other partners from across the green technology ecosystem. Through a high-level leadership dialogue, innovation showcases and a multi-stakeholder discussion, participants will examine how cooperation can help countries exchange experience, adapt technologies to local contexts and build partnerships aligned with national climate and development priorities.
Discussions will spotlight solutions in areas such as food security and climate-smart agriculture. Innovators will also present scalable technologies and outline the partnerships needed to expand their impact.
The event will demonstrate how WIPO GREEN helps translate climate ambition into action through its global Database of Green Technologies and Needs, Acceleration Projects, knowledge resources, including the Green Technology Book, and an international partner network supporting matchmaking and collaboration. It will also feature the emerging African Green Tech Coalition and invite stakeholders to contribute to its development.
By linking policy priorities with technology, finance and implementation partners, the event aims to advance concrete pathways for green technology dissemination and uptake in support of nationally determined contributions, national adaptation plans and broader sustainable development priorities.
