The fifth edition of the WIPO Green Technology Book will be launched at COP31 in Türkiye on November 11, 2026, highlighting how innovation and technology can help monitor, restore and strengthen the resilience of climate-impacted ecosystems.
WIPO GREEN will launch the fifth edition of its flagship WIPO Green Technology Book, Solutions for Restoring Climate-Impacted Ecosystems, at COP31 in Türkiye. The launch will take place during the side event “Fighting climate-induced ecosystem decline with innovation and technology” on November 11, 2026, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Antalya time in Side Event Room 3. The publication provides an accessible overview of technology trends and practical solutions that can support action to address ecosystem decline and advance climate adaptation.
Climate change is intensifying pressure on terrestrial, freshwater and other ecosystems, with far-reaching consequences for communities, economies and biodiversity. Against this backdrop, the new edition shows how innovation can strengthen the measurement and monitoring of ecosystem change, inform restoration planning and support interventions adapted to local needs.
The publication examines a transition from periodic observation to continuous ecosystem intelligence. It highlights the growing use of digital twins and predictive models to test restoration scenarios before real-world implementation, as well as integrated platforms that can support the restoration process from assessment and planning to monitoring and evaluation.
It also explores how restoration science is increasingly connecting above- and below-surface systems and moving beyond the recovery of individual components toward the restoration of ecosystem function. Across these areas, hybrid approaches that combine advanced technologies with low-tech and nature-based solutions are helping create options that can be adapted and scaled.
The WIPO Green Technology Book is intended for policy-makers, ecosystem restoration and climate adaptation professionals, natural resource managers, innovators, companies and members of the public seeking information on green technologies. By bringing technology trends and concrete solutions together in one resource, the publication aims to support informed decisions, foster collaboration and encourage wider deployment of technologies that respond to climate and environmental challenges.
The new edition also contributes to WIPO’s work as the United Nations agency for innovation and intellectual property in support of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement. Through WIPO GREEN, technology providers, seekers, partners and other stakeholders can connect around solutions for climate change, food security and the environment.
